HDPE Drainage Pipe Pressure Test Standard

381

HDPE Drainage Pipe General requirements for hydrostatic testing

1. Before the pressure test, the pipeline should be soaked in water for not less than 12 hours.

2. The water pressure of the hydrostatic test shall not be less than 1.5 times the working pressure of the pipeline, and the test pressure shall not be less than 0.80MPa. The air pressure test shall not replace the hydrostatic test.

3. The length of the hydrostatic test is not more than 1,000 meters, and the length of the hydrostatic test of the pipe section with accessories in the middle is not more than 500 meters. Pipes of different materials in the system should be pressure tested separately.

4. Check the firmness and reliability of the support baffle at the end of the pressure test section. During the pressure test, the supporting facilities are strictly prohibited from loosening or collapsing. Do not use the valve as a sealing plate.

5. Pressurization should use a mechanical device with a metering device. When using a spring pressure gauge, its accuracy should not be lower than 1.5, the measuring range should be 1.3-1.5 times the test pressure, and the dial diameter should not be less than 150 mm.

6. The pressure test section shall not include the water hammer arrester, and various valves contained in the pipeline auxiliary system such as the outdoor fire hydrant, and shall be fully opened.

HDPE Drainage Pipe Hydrostatic test method

In the pre-test stage, the following steps shall be followed and the following requirements shall be met:

1. Reduce the pressure in the pressure test pipeline to atmospheric pressure for 60 minutes. During this time, make sure that air does not enter the pipes.

2. Slowly increase the pipeline pressure to the test pressure and stabilize the pressure for 30 minutes. If there is a pressure drop during this period, water can be injected to make up the pressure, but not higher than the test pressure. Check the pipe joints and fittings for leaks. If there is a leak, stop the pressure test. Before reorganizing the pressure test, find out the cause and take corresponding measures.

3. Stop water injection and pressure compensation, and stabilize for 60 minutes. If the pressure has dropped to more than 70% of the test pressure after 60 minutes, the pre-test phase will end. When the pressure drops below 70% of the test pressure after 60 minutes, stop the pressure test, find out the cause before organizing the pressure test, and take corresponding measures.
